Ref is Human FC is a community of soccer enthusiasts on a mission to end referee abuse. By blending education, humor, and AI technology, we work to protect the integrity of the beautiful game and turn all fans into true champions of respect and fair play.

Our Story
Mateus Carvalho

Our community was created by Mateus "Butterz" Carvalho, a 16-year-old high school junior and long-time soccer referee based in San Diego, California. From personal experiences, Mateus saw how toxic behavior toward officials affects the sport as a whole. He created this platform to remind everyone that, while not perfect, our soccer refs are human and deserve to be treated with respect.
